This Jokai group estate traces its name to the Assamese words "Doichha Jaan", meaning "the river with two heads". Daisajan Tea Estate is situated in the golden belt of the "Tea City" - Doom Dooma - in Upper Assam, which is home to some of the most fertile lands in the Assam Valley. With an abundance of tippy clones as well as the forgotten “basti” seed jat of Assam, the Daisajan mark is an institution in the hallowed halls of Orthodox tea connoisseurs around the world.

Daisajan teas are a modern representation of the legacy Assam teas of yore – malty, robust and deliciously creamy. One can easily identify a Daisajan tea based on the golden sheen that covers the surface of every tea leaf resulting in an ethereal glow. When brewed, it yields a remarkably bright infusion, a strongly aromatic nose and a cup that sings with notes of elderflower and red apple.

The TGFOP top grades of Daisajan, (Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe) are sought after across the industry for their virgin character and maltiness, creaming down cups.

Did you know? The Assam plant Camellia assamica is, in fact, a small tree, which grows to be about 10-13 meters in height. Its leaves are thin, bright, tend to have a tapering apex and contains higher caffeine level than Camellia sinensis, which is smaller, about 2-3 meters in height. In harvesting, or plucking, the shoot removed usually includes the bud and the two youngest leaves. The weight of 2,000 freshly plucked China bush shoots may be 1 pound (0.45 kg); the same number of Assam shoots may weigh 2 pounds (0.9 kg).

Ingredients: 100% Assam Daisajan black orthodox tea.

Classic: 2 to 3 grams of tea, 200 ml of water at around 95+ C degrees, 3 to 5 minutes depending on preferences. Infuse for up to 3 minutes if you want your tea stimulating and energizing; 3-5 minutes if you want it to have a soothing and relaxing effect. We suggest to brew it in a period of 2 to 2.5 minutes to get milky tones out of the tea.

After you have finished brewing, take the leaves out of the cup/teapot – if they remain in the water too long, they start releasing tannins. Tannin makes tea taste bitter, inhibits absorption of magnesium and iron which are necessary for the body to function properly.
