Silk Road Blend classic, smoky for strong taste fans. This blend, Silk Road Blend, is described as full bodied, strong copper coloured, smokey and heavy flavoured tea with a smooth and mellow aftertaste.

There were two sources of tea carried from the 17th-18th century by camel caravans to Russian capital city: from China and from India. This caused two different blends with same name: Russian Caravan. Main differences were road used to carry on tea and tea at its own. From China old Silk Road was used and smoked tea called Lapsang Souchong was present in this blend. It gives this smoked taste to blend sourced from China. As India haven’t got any smoked tea Indian version of Russian Caravan blend has more mild taste without any smoked tones. Caravans carried tea from China used old Silk Route so we called this blend as Silk Road Blend. And we have left Russian Caravan name to teas carried out from India.

Russian Caravan for thus, who love mild version without smoked Lapsang tea replaced by sweeter Assam tea. This blend is described as an aromatic and full-bodied tea with a sweet, malty taste.

Anecdotal evidence had it that during the camel caravan journeys, the teas took on the smoky taste of the campfires. Only the Lapsang Souchong, if present in the blend, is actually smoke-dried.

Classic: 2 to 3 grams, 200 mills of water at around 95+ C degrees, 3 to 5 mins depend on preferences. Infuse with boiling water for up to 3 minutes if you want your tea stimulating and energizing; 3-5 minutes if you want it to have a soothing and relaxing effect.

After you have finished brewing, take the leaves out of the cup/teapot – if they remain in the water too long, they start releasing tannins. Tannin makes tea taste bitter, inhibits absorption of magnesium and iron which are necessary for the body to function properly.
