Dianhong tea literally: "Dian Lake red tea" is a type of relatively high-end, gourmet Chinese black tea and grown in Yunnan Province, China. The main difference between Dianhong and other Chinese black teas is the amount of fine leaf buds, or "golden tips," present in the dried tea. Dian hong is a relatively new product from Yunnan that began production in the early 20th century. The word diān is the short name for the Yunnan region while hóng means "red (tea)".

Dianhong teas produces a brew that is brassy golden orange in colour with a sweet, gentle aroma and no astringency. Extremely high concentration minerals make this tea one of most desirable black tea. Golden yellowish-brown, tightly rolled leaves – Golden Snail is a pleasure to behold. This special black tea from the Yunnan province surprises with a malt-like aroma which is slightly earthy and resembles buckwheat honey with chocolate. Despite its honey fragrance, a slightly spicy “sharp” note can be felt a long while after drinking tea. No connoisseur will be disappointed. Cheaper varieties of Dianhong produce a darker brownish brew that can be very bitter.

This tea is made from two small shoots plucked in early spring from the plant's stem which are subsequently fully oxidised to giving a tea that sweet, fruity and flowery flavour with a long lasting sweet after-taste. As this tea is pure handmade, and it need tens of thousands of pieces of fresh tea bud tips to make one kilo of tea it is a rare  treasure.

Ingredients: 100% Dian Hong Golden Snail black tea

Classic: 2 to 3 grams, 200 mills of water at around 95+ C degrees, 3 to 5 mins depend on preferences. Infuse with boiling water for up to 3 minutes if you want your tea stimulating and energizing; 3-5 minutes if you want it to have a soothing and relaxing effect.

After you have finished brewing, take the leaves out of the cup/teapot – if they remain in the water too long, they start releasing tannins. Tannin makes tea taste bitter, inhibits absorption of magnesium and iron which are necessary for the body to function properly.
